Pros and cons of PhantomALERT app for iPhone and iPad

PhantomALERT app good for

It seems to work OK. Id most likely use it in an area I didnt know - to warn where traps might be - its not a license to speed or drive drunk!
man this app is really useful. DC just added 79 speed and red light cameras. Virginia cops love to pick on Cabies. maryland also is going crazy with mobile speed cameras. they really eant to pick drivers pockets in the name of slowing down drivers. its all a lie. I am amazed as to how many alerts I get through this app. wow ! there are so many ways to get a ticket driving around town and you really have saved me from several tickets. I also love the live traffic cam views. I use it to pick which routes to take. I have told fellow Cabies and passengers about your app. I hope you get some business out if it. pleas keep it up as this is a very useful service. by the way your tech support guy was awesome too helped me install it on my wifes tomtom. I am a life time member and the $100 bucks you charge for to users for life is worth every penny. I can honestly say I it paid for itself the first day you helped me Avoid a hidden speed camera on Missouri abe. how sneaky it was hidden behind a big tree. thanks for the alert. recommended to every driver. thank u.
I love this app. My fiancee likes to drive, so I let her drive. The only problem is that shes reckless. I love her to death, but I dont care for all the tickets shes having me pay. This app saved me from my rising insurance premiums, I show her where the areas that will be possible for for her to get caught doing sonething stupid and now shes acting much betta behind my wheel! Thanks
Works well....I have been using this app for the past 8 month fairly regulary when I drive out of state and in areas I know there are hidden speed traps and the F@&$ng cameras. So far I can say I got my money worth. The alerts are not perfect all the time but they give you an early warning to pay look around and slow down. AB of course they have a few false alerts but so did my old radar detector. Its better than nothing. I would say 95% accurate and hey it saved me from several tickets please keep improving the app I rely on you :-)
Cool way to fight big brother and save your cash. LOL I see you guys getting some bad reviews. I wonder why??? Who doesnt want me to use this app? Who is against such an app? The Police? The red light camera companies? The broke cities who rely on ticket revenue? Hummmmm... Hang in there... I was amazed Last year it was the 4 US "liberal democratic" senators who wanted to ban this app. Typical of Democrats... Ban everythig ...its for your safety. Pleassee... Actually that is how I found about your app :) Thanks Senator Schumer and Reid. Thanks for making me aware about this app. I will keep my Guns and use this app. Anyways beware of -ve reviews. Someone with a hidden agenda does not want us to use this app.
Wicked!!! Necessary tool for drivers. If you hate traffic ticket u gotz to get thizzz app. You got my vote and approval cuz you just saved me from a hidden speed trap on I95 south in Florida. Yep... app starts going crasy saying "possible speed trap ahead" and o look up and notice the speed limit had suddenly changed from 55 to 45... so take my foot of the gas and slow down... Next thing o see is a tropper hidden behind a some bushes with his radar gun out pointing it at me. Wheeewww... AO He see me and i see him... Soon as i pass him i was praying he would not pull out and come after me. He didnt... cuz i had slowed down enough. Thanks phantom saved my butt.... again. Lol.. Keep it up as i will definitely use you everytime i drive from now on. Respect

Some bad moments

It might be legal but it isnt exactly "free". You need to register an account and pay subscription fee(s). I had used previous version and it wasnt very helpful. I was willing to give it another try… No thanks.
The upgrade that now requires you to create a subscription account renders this app undesirable. Too bad.
Unlike the last version, now you you need to register and agree to a lengthly disclaimer. Good thing I have one of their competitors apps, which I will now use instead
The app itself is a bit clunky, it seems to have a hard time figuring out the direction I am headed. A subscription is mandatory and its $10 a month... Way too expensive for info that is all user-submitted or public record. I wont use this unless it becomes ad-supported. This is a very trivial app to code and the cost seems unjustified.
The app is constantly asking you to vote on the legitimacy of speed traps and cameras several blocks before they are visible. What makes matters worse is that the voting window closes moments before you can finally see the camera. The gps accuracy is very poor and the map system itself is horrendous. Finally, given the very unrefined state of this app I feel the subscription price is grossly out of line. This could be a great service with just a minimal effort. Too bad the publisher clearly doesnt care.
Im using the phantom app and it works fine BUT! The voice notifications are soo low nobody can hear it...Ive even had to shut my radio off and hold it to my ear just to hear it...a suggestion is to update the app with a volume control bar to raise the volume level....I know there is a button to shut the alert sounds off but none to adjust the volume...Ive tried many thing to be able to hear the notifications but to no avail. Plus its illegal to have a cell phone in my hand in NY so holding the phone to hear the app is a no no....thank you for your time. If any questions please feel free to contact me.
